Projects

Growing up, my favorite thing after school was to escape into the cinematic world and watch TV. I found myself drawn into the plot and how the film was made. After binge-watching a television show or a movie, I went into a rabbit hole of research to learn exactly how each shot was created. I soon found myself with a film camera in my backyard, forcing my family, especially my dog, to help me tell my stories. I always had a unique viewpoint on life, and making films allows me to use my creativity to see the world in a new light.

The Manipulator

The Manipulator

Jenny Young lost her spot on the college tennis team amidst the college scandal. She believes her scholarship spot was sold to her nemesis Leia Editore. She becomes a manipulator as she attempts to take back her spot.

The logistics for creating The Manipulator involved casting believable actors and locking locations like the tennis court and media center for the final manipulation meltdown. I was the writer and director for this project and learned to communicate my vision to a cast and crew of over 25 peers.

After the Clock Strikes Twelve

AFter the Clock Strikes Twelve

After The Clock Strikes Twelve was my first film as a film student. The Lumière Brothers inspired this project. When crafting our story, we had three rules to follow. 1) A shot may be no longer than 52 seconds 2) No synchronized sound. 3) No more than three takes. My first shot mimics a clock turning back. The prince finds his true love's shoe, and the camera dollies around him. For this project, I filmed all the shots and directed the film.

A Race Of A Lifetime

A Race Of A Lifetime tells the story of winning a life-long race. Members of the team talk about the origin story behind the Pink Dragon Ladies and share how the group came to be, highlighting the strength within each member. The Pink Dragon Ladies offer physical and emotional healing to breast cancer survivors, making the "survivors become thrivers." The last line in the documentary and the film's mission statement is, "There is always somebody else."

I reached out to the Pink Dragon Ladies over social media. I met with the team in Tampa, FL, and filmed the documentary. I operated a Canon DSLR for interviews and ensured precise audio levels. For the shots on the boat, I ran multiple Go Pros and cameras simultaneously.

Conquer

CONQUER

Conquer focuses on mental health and the importance of recognizing and being there for each other. I used the game of JENGA as a visual representation of the things a person keeps building up inside. The message is that nothing is too small or too big to conquer.  I oversaw the production process for this film as I worked as the sole producer on this project and filmed and edited the video.

New Media Storytelling

Anticipation is about the chaos of travel. I made this video before I left for my study-abroad trip to Paris, France. It is the first episode of my short film series about my adventures in France.

When I shot this video the day before my flight, little did I know what lay ahead: expanding my knowledge of French cinema, attending Roland Garros tennis tournament, a bike tour of Versailles, and even an unfortunate visit to the ER. While in Paris, an ankle injury in Paris sent me to the ER. Afterward I spent the rest of my trip on crutches. Through it all, I refused to stop filming. I learned how to produce and tell various stories accumulating over an hour of content for my YouTube channel.

The Bet

The Bet's tells the story about a family golf match. Initially, this was going to be a Happy Gilmore-like golf comedy. However, I have found that each shoot has its own problems to solve. Sometimes one is lucky enough to see them when shooting. If not, the phrase, "Let's fix it in post," becomes a reality.

We arrived on location, and it was extremely windy, causing the dialogue to be thrown out in post. I re-made the film in the edit, creating a silent movie like the ones popularized by silent film legends Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

Dogumentary Companion Animal Alliance

Dogumentary companion animal alliance

Companion Animal Alliance is a dog shelter in Baton Rouge, LA. This documentary highlights the importance of rescuing pets and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the shelter's operations.

This is the first documentary that I ever made.

Through this project, I learned about the different ways to tell a story and discovered a passion for documentaries.

Midnight Zone

The Midnight Zone

The Midnight Zone was presented at the LSU Hopkins Black Box Theatre during the 2021 spring showcase. Our group synthesized elements of film communication such as composition and cinematography, elements of mise-en-scene, styles of editing and sound, aspects of the story, plot, genre, and the collaborative authorship of film. We used the short narrative "Night Work" by Barry Yourgrau as inspiration and created a surrealistic dream sequence without revealing it was all a
dream. Water was an element utilized in different ways for each scene. The film was shot entirely during Covid-19, forcing us to figure out how to work together without physically being together. I worked on this project with Julia Roane, Molly Bahlinger, Carson Bayle, and Stratty McLaughlin. We each directed one of the five scenes.

Where Were You When

Where were you when

Where Were You When is a documentary investigating the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. This film features interviews with students and LSU faculty and details where they were when the world shut down. Finally, it looks ahead to the future, asking how we can move on as a society.

A Content Place

A Content Place

This short film explores coping during the pandemic. It follows college students on their journey to find contentment during a pandemic.

Ironically my actors were all roommates and contracted Covid-19 midway through filming, forcing me to recruit new actors. I had to reestablish the narrative and still meet my deadline. In under twenty-four hours, I recreated the story relying on a voiceover to show an individual journey of contentment.
